Our Program Is Built on the Core Values of the Dauch College of Business Economics

Since 1878, Ashland University has been a liberal arts and sciences institution, preparing students for exciting professions and careers. In 1978, our centennial year, we introduced the Ashland University MBA program, and 39 years later over 5,000 students have made their way through the program.

Our program’s vision is to be the provider of choice of managerial resources to organizations in the geographical areas we serve. Our mission is to help our students achieve those competencies most prized by organizations wishing to hire or promote individuals into positions of increasing responsibility.

Meet our Administrative & Admissions Staff

 

Daniel Fox, J.D.
Dean and Associate Professor of Law

 

Dr. Daniel Fox came to Ashland in 2004 and has served in various positions including Associate Dean and Director of Entrepreneurship for the Dauch College. He is now stepping into the role as Dean of the College of Business & Economics and is looking forward to growing the MBA program. Dr. Fox also serves as Associate Professor of Law, teaching both Undergraduate and Graduate business courses. He holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Ohio Northern School of Law and a B.A. in Accounting and Political Science from Ohio Northern University. 

Dr. Fox is an Ohio licensed attorney and Certified Public Accountant. Prior to his time at Ashland University, he consulted for the world’s largest oil company, Saudi Aramco, in Saudi Arabia. He also worked for the “Big Eight” accounting firm of Coopers & Lybrand and the law firm of Emens, Hurd, Kegler & Ritter, practicing business and tax law. He continues to consult with startup and entrepreneurial companies providing legal, accounting and operational advice.

 

Lance Kaltenbaugh, Ed.D.
Interim Associate Dean and Associate Professor of Sport Management

 

Dr. Lance Kaltenbaugh, Interim Associate Dean and Associate Professor of Sport Management, joined Ashland University in 2000. His areas of expertise include leadership and sport / recreation management. He received the Academic Mentor Award in 2006 and Outstanding Faculty Member in 2021. Kaltenbaugh serves as the Director of Graduate Programs, Internship Coordinator for sport management and is the faculty advisor for the sport business club. He has a bachelor of education and master of education degrees in therapeutic recreation and recreation management from The University of Toledo and an Ed.D. in educational leadership from The University of Akron.

 

Steve Krispinsky
Executive Director, Emeritus

 

Steve has worked at Ashland University for more than 30 years. In 1979, Steve started his career as Assistant Director of Special Programs and was promoted to Director in 1980. He soon became director of the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration evening and weekend program. He became director of the BSBA and MBA Extension programs and served in that role until he was appointed to his current position as executive director of the MBA Program in 1996.

Steve is a member of the Dauch College of Business and Economics Dean’s Council, a member of Graduate Council and has served on numerous faculty and administrative search committees. He also is a member of the MBA Curriculum Committee and a member of the MBA Admissions Committee and chaired search committees for Assistant Director of MBA Program. He also served as a member of the Ashland University Marketing Committee during the 1990s.

Steve received the Ellis Award from the Dauch College of Business and Economics in 1994 and 1995, as well as the Academic Mentor Award in 1996. He is an honorary member of Delta Mu Delta (National Honorary Business Society) and a member of Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership society. He also served on the initial ACBSP committee for the Business School accreditation in 1992-1993.

Steve has a master of arts degree from Bowling Green State University and a bachelor of science degree from Ferris State University, and Ph.D. coursework completed at Ohio University. He and his wife, Patti, have three children, Danny (’06, ’10 MBA), Michael and Kelly, currently a sophomore at Ashland.
